States of Consciusness - Brugmansia

State of Consciusness explores transformation through the symbolic language of the blue lotus and Brugmansia, two plants associated with change and self-discovery. Rather than depicting them botanically, I use them as metaphors for complementary experiences of inner transformation: one rooted in clarity, renewal, and the fluid rhythms of water, the other in introspection and the unknown. Created in mixed media using pencil, ink, technical pens, watercolor, gouache, and acrylic, the works evolved through an intuitive process of layering line and color. Together, they reflect on the interconnectedness of humanity and nature, where transformation emerges through both light and uncertainty. Centered on the symbolic presence of Brugmansia, this work explores the hidden dimensions of consciousness through the intertwining of the human figure and botanical forms. As the boundaries between body and plant dissolve, the painting suggests that the unknown aspects of the self are deeply connected to the natural world, where transformation unfolds through both mystery and discovery.
